 WOMEN OF THE CURVE

They spent fifteen minutes past nine o'clock when Cobos decided to leave. He had several hours in front of the computer screen, without even blinking and thought it was time to go home.

Outside in the street, it was dark quite a while. The wind blew with unusual force, as a prelude to a storm that was about to arrive.

Before closing the office with your key, typed in small console key to activate the electronic alarm. He waited a few seconds after closing the door until he heard a high-pitched beep indicating that the alarm was in service, and with an instinctive gesture raincoat leaned over the shoulders. The cold got worse and started to drizzle.

Briskly reached your vehicle, an old Renault dark green that despite the years, was in fairly good condition. He opened the door and quickly introduced inside.

He put the key in the ignition and in a few seconds a glimmer gave life to the dashboard. He turned the wheel to stop heating, and prepared to begin the march toward home.

The storm was becoming more virulent as it is away from the office. He still had about 50 miles to get home, located on the outskirts of a small bedroom community. He decided to turn on the radio to make the most peaceful way; however, the deep voice of the announcer of the program of mystery troubled him so much, flooded the dark interior of the vehicle.

He turned right onto the county road you would have to travel several kilometers. He did not like coming home this way, especially when it was so dreary night like this, because the firm was not in good condition and there was barely lighting. In fact it had occurred in several accidents in recent years, some of them fatal. This had also led to talk of people who claimed that a curve a young woman dressed in white and with it appeared disheveled.
Cobos was not one to give much credence to these stories. But he had to admit there was something on that road that caused a strange feeling of unease.

He had left behind the lights of the small town, and darkness engulfed everything. Only the glow of the headlights was able to break the blackness of the moonless night. Suddenly, a strange feeling came over him. He realized that no noise is heard, saving the radio and the sound of the engine and tires on gravilla.Decidió stop on the hard shoulder without knowing why, or you would find. He opened the car door and got out. It was raining heavily, but just listened to something other than the engine noise and the patter of raindrops on the roof of the car. Was reintroduced into the car, and started driving, without clear of all that tingling in her stomach.

Their uncertainty was short-lived. Looking through the rearview mirror of the car realized that he was not alone. A totally soaked woman in a white dress, and the faraway look was in the back seat.

It was impossible to be found there: the vehicle had only two doors and no way could access the back, except for the driver's side door, and the other was faulty for several days and could not be opened.

His heart began to beat rapidly. He stopped short and his hands covered his face, hoping that it was all his imagination. But to look back in the rearview mirror, the figure was still sitting in the same place.

Cobos babbling turned and asked the woman who was and who was there. However this did not articulate a word. His gaze was lost God knows where ...

It could not be. It could not be anyone there. It could not be that the old story of the woman of the curve was happening to him. He did not believe in such nonsense. He decided to leave the car and take a look from outside. It had to be her imagination.

He grabbed the door handle to the hand ready to leave the car, and suddenly felt a strong pressure on the neck. It felt like two cold hands as he pressed steel preventing the passage of air to the lungs. He looked surprised by the mirror and the image he saw caused him panic. The wife did not have that cold and distant look quite the contrary: his eyes seemed to be going out of their sockets and reflected a hatred I had never seen in ningunta another look.

He tried to escape from the hands of the woman but it was impossible. Gradually, as the oxygen barely reached his lungs, he was losing consciousness, sure he was going to die, but even without understanding why. Until the woman
approached her lips and said in a voice devoid of expression: see you in hell, where I am from that night you ran me into the curve we just passed. Do you remember?

Were the last words he heard. After the utter darkness reigned.
